Dr. Matthew Kangas, interventional pain physician of Mays & Schnapp Neurospine and Pain, recently completed his first SI Joint Fusion procedure at the Memphis, Tennessee, ambulatory surgery center. Dr. Kangas was assisted on the procedure by Annie Dunaway, Mary Rambo, Dr. Jennifer Nguyen, Morgan Tackett, and Megan Madison.
Pain in sacroiliac (SI) joint can be caused due to trauma, arthritis, or other conditions that damage the area of the sacrum and iliac bones. This minimally invasive procedure reinforces the SI joint which reduces pain and improves stability for patients through use of a small implant. Patients often return home from the procedure the same day and return to normal function within a few weeks or months.
Mays & Schnapp Neurospine and Pain offers a range of treatment options for those experiencing chronic pain. If you suffer from chronic SI joint pain, then an SI joint fusion may provide the pain relief you seek.
