Kit S. Mays, MD

doc-maysKit S. Mays, MD completed his residency in Anesthesiology from University of Tennessee in 1977, where he was Chief Resident. He was an instructor in Anesthesiology and Assistant Professor Anesthesiology at the University of Tennessee College of Medicine. His specialty training in the treatment of chronic pain led him to devote his entire practice to the treatment and management of chronic and severe pain syndromes. He was the first Medical Director of the University of Tennessee Pain Clinic. During those years Dr. Mays and Dr. Schnapp wrote over 17 papers and contributed to three books. They were the first to report on the pioneering use of peripheral and intraspinal injections for pain management. Their continued exploration of the treatment of pain led them into private practice where they founded the Mays and Schnapp Pain Clinic and Rehabilitation Center, one of first pain clinics in the United States certified in all areas of adult pain management and rehabilitation by CARF and one of the first multidisciplinary pain clinic in the South. He is presently serves as Clinical Assistant Professor at University of Tennessee, College of Medicine. Dr. Mays continues his commitment to excellence in the multidisciplinary approach to patients with pain.
