The History
Read about how the partnership of Dr. Mays and Dr. Schnapp created the Pain Clinic and Rehabilitation Center 15 years ago.

Dr. Kit Mays,
an anesthesiologist, established the Mid-South's first pain clinic at the University of Tennessee, where he served as director.

Dr. Moacir Schnapp,
a neurologist, specialized in pain management and became the second director of the University of Tennessee's Pain clinic.

Celebrating 28 years of collaborative teamwork and restoring pain relief and function to thousands of patients.
In 1983, Dr. Mays and Dr. Schnapp formed a lasting partnership, forming a private practice. Ten years later, they opened the Mays & Schnapp Pain Clinic and Rehabilitation Center

The clinic helps patients with a variety of conditions, including reflex sympathetic dystrophy, pain from cancer, ruptured discs, shingles, spinal stenosis, arthritis, chronic neck and back pain, nerve pain and fibromyalgia.

In 1991, the Mays & Schnapp Pain Clinic and Rehabilitation Center became the first pain clinic in North America and the only clinic in the Mid-South to be accredited in all areas of adult outpatient rehabiitation by the Commission for Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities, or CARF. Learn more
